CONGRATULATIONS
Mairangi Campbell - Student of the Week
‘Being the best is great your the number 1, being unique is greater, your the only one!
Mairangi stands out from the crowd, he has a unique personality that draws people in and a wonderful sense of humor to match, everyone loves to be in his company. He has a gift for speaking and entertaining and was a recent finalist in our school speech competition. Mairangi has an inquiring mind, he often pushes his own thinking and positively challenges others to do the same. He is very supportive of his peers who feel comfortable to turn to him for support and direction. Mairangi will go on to do great things and we are so lucky to have him as part of our Turanganui whanau. Tu Rangatira E Tu!
Well done to Kaia Gate & our new student Kahurangi Kerekere who were acknowledged at our assembly this week.
Kaia leads by example and you can guarantee that he is always doing the right thing. Not only does he have a positive attitude but he is a focused learner who works hard.
Kahurangi has only been with us a few weeks but already has settled in to life at GISINT as though she has been here all term. She already contributes to classroom discussions, is able to work with a variety of people and was even recognised by our reliever as an outstanding student.
On Friday we celebrated our very own Olympic Day at GISINT. We only had little time to prepare an anthem, mascot, walk by, costumes, flags & dance as we had already planned to be on a class outing the day it was to take place (which was postponed).
Everything was put back on the students to organise so everyone could utilise their strengths to pull it together.... and it worked! Check out our GISINT facebook page for our performance, you will be impressed, I definitely was.

Thanks to Mr Hart for organising 3 Olympic Guest Speakers ex GISINT students Michelle Rennie (nee Hyland) & Darryl Fitzgerald as part of our Olympic week celebrations as well as Paora Winitana who represented NZ at Basketball.
Majority of our class were fortunate enough to be apart of Paora's korero which was truly inspiring. Paora talked about his life growing where he didn't have a lot but made the most of what he did have and cherishing the support of his family which helped drive his passion and determination to succeed.
One quote that stood out for me was said to him by his Koro who said
"Show me your friends and I will show you your destiny"
There were many messages that he shared that hit home with our students and it was truly inspiring to hear where hard work and perseverance can take you. Check out Kiwa, Hayley, Paige and Mokai who got to take on challenges with Paora. Some of them were rewarded with the right to wear his playing singlets from The Breakers, NZ Tall Blacks and of course The Olympics.
We have another busy week ahead with a lot of activities outside the classroom happening. Our first Life Education Session starts this week where students will learn more about cyber bullying, the brain and making decisions.
