Week 4

Congratulations to Carlos & Rongomai who were our certificate recipients this week.  Both students were fully engaged in our Heritage Trails excursions with Turanga Health this week and were not only asking some very thoughtful questions but were able to pass on their own knowledge with others.

Caleb & Tobias were also acknowledged for their outstanding work with Mathletics and being named the TOP students out of the WHOLE school

Tobias was 1st and Caleb 2nd.  Both these boys have even had their names on the NZ leaderboard and the WORLD leaderboard.

This week our learning classroom was  being out and about in TAIRAWHITI.  As part of the heritage trails with Turanga Health we visited numerous sites around Gisborne and learn't about the history of those areas.  Incorporated into these sessions was the hauora aspect where we did fitness activities as well.  The students loved this new learning environment

We were also fortunate enough to head up to Titirangi to do some tree planting with the GDC thanks to Matua Josh Wharehinga who helped us get another session due to first one being cancelled due to the rain.  We had a wonderful time but most importantly knowing that we were Kaitiaki (guardians) of this special Maunga  gave the session so much more meaning.  Each student got plant their own tree that they had dedicated to special person and that they will be able to look after for many more years to come.
