Term 3 Week 1

Naumai Hoki Mai - Welcome Back!

Well done to Mairangi & Keanu who were our certificate winners at assembly this week.  Mairangi always sets his standards high and is a wonderful role model for others to look to. Keanu has settled into life at GIS INT and is a real character. He is always willing to help others and is a good friend.

Tech Cycle 3 finished this week with Tech Cycle 4 statring on Thursday .
Check out these Pinball machines made by Peti & Mokai

In Week 6 we have Science Fair, all students will be encouraged to complete a science fair project or poster.  This week we looked at exploring science by getting students engaged and excited about the possibilities.  They students got to poke pencils through plastic bags and play with toys.  It looks like loads of fun but I can tell you now there was some learning behind it all!

Congratulations for Charlotte, Shakyra & Morgan (absent) who were recognised by our librarian Mrs Robinson for having issued the most reading books last term

The Week started with students revisiting their goal and aspirations from last term and focusing on new goals.  In this session we made bucket lists.  Here the students are making their buckets with the help of their peers.

Our Interclass Ultimate frisbee competition got underway this week.  We have 5 teams, each one not only getting a chance to play the game but also being in charge of organising and officiating the games giving feedback and feedforward as well as points to each team.  Before and after each session players plan a strategy as well as set personal goals.  We look forward to being able to invite you down to watch the finals in a few weeks time.  There is some very powerful learning behind our PE programme

Check out this Mau Rakau Poster By Caleb.  All boys were sent this task last term to complete by Matua Puri as part of their learning around Mau Rakau.  This is the FIRST one completed.....now waiting for the rest.

Finally Mathletics is a big focus throughout our class and syndicate.  Some students are striving each and everyday to reach the next level and this dedication and effort has been evident in our recent IKAN assessment with some students going from stage 4 to stage 7!  Everyone is expected to be on silver by the end of this week, please encourage and support your child.

Have a great week
