Bula Vinaka - A Warm Hello from Fiji
Well only two days back at school after a lovely weekend in Fiji and already things are moving fast. I was so please to hear that Room 24 were on top of their game and made the most of their time with Koka Tarn Keelan who was relieving while I was away. The girls were lucky enough to be exposed to her artistic expertise while the boys had an art session with Matua Walter Shepherd.

On Tuesday we started our lunchtime Interclass touch rugby competition. This competition is a brilliant way for students to share their skills, work as a team as well as learning to accept and adapt to each other's abilities by promoting inclusion. Points are awarded not only for how many tries are scored but also for class participation, uniform, fairplay and organisation. Our first game was against Ruma Rima who where quick off the mark scoring the first try. The game was very close with Room 24 winning by 1 point 43-42.
Today we went to the museum, our first session we learnt about 'Our Place' which will link into our hikoi/walk next week where we will take a closer look at landmarks and places around Gisborne. Our second session was about Taonga Puoro (musical instruments), we even got to make our own.
Tomorrow is our first tech session where your child will either be doing Music, Art, Drama, Woodwork or Cooking. There are some really exciting activities that come from these choices, each student will get to experience all tech sessions throughout the year.
Finally thank you to all our parents and whanau who attended 'Meet the Teacher' tonight. We were overwhelmed with the turnout and the positive comments received. Please feel free to email or ring the school office if you weren't able to make it tonight but would like to touch base to catch up.
Enjoy what is left of a short week!
Cool art Ronnie!
