Week 5

Lots of celebrations this week!

Firstly congratulations to Kiwa Ria Renata-Kokiri & Rawhiti Kaiwai who were this week's classroom certificate winners at our year 7 assembly.
Rawhiti has taken up many of the opportunities on offer at GIS INT but what is more impressive is how other teachers have commented on what an awesome kid he is.  Kiwa is another student who is a valuable class member, he is an easy person to work with and willingly helps others.  Ka Mau te Wehi boys, we are super lucky to have you in our class.

Also acknowledged at assembly were our wonderful gymnasts Sophie, Morgan & Aria who took up a challenge and dedicated hours of training to compete in the gym festival.  All three girls were awarded badges for their efforts.

This week we continue with our 'Peeches' aka Speeches.  We changed the name to take away the stigma associated with speeches and to change attitudes towards them.  As a class we created a criteria that allows students to do an oral presentation either individually or as a pair.  Some of the ideas the students have come up with include a puppet show, performing a play, explaining a science experiment or advertisement and creating a slide show to name a few.  If you could assist your child in any way to help them with this process such as offering ideas, making props, assisting with learning or listening to their peech, that would be really helpful.

A final reminder to purchase your child's Dragon Maths book from the office which are $15.00 each
